Fear Lies on the Beeb!

9th August 2014

Always a privilege to have your own work broadcast by the BBC. Tonight ‘Dial the Storm’ was on Introducing in Sheffield on BBC radio. Check it out at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p023pwxw

Diamond Gig in Mansfield

31st July 2014

Located in the small town of Sutton-in-Ashfield The Diamond is a fantastic live rock venue. This place has an impressive history. A string of big names have performed here, the walls are dotted with photos and rock memorabilia; I was stoked to see a photo and signed drum skin from Guns n’ Roses original drummer Steven Adler. It was a pleasure to play this venue, looking forward to a repeat gig sometime soon.

On the Radio Again!

31st July 2014

Army of You was played tonight on the fantastic Noize Level Critical radio show. Go check it out at www.rockstarsglued.com

Our 2nd festival of the summer (is there anywhere else in the world that packs more music per square mile than Sheffields Tramilines??). Fear Lies were heavily involved. We kicked it all off with a spot at South Seas (unfortunately this meant we missed Public Enemy but hey that’s the way it goes when you play festivals). Next up early Sunday we were back at the Red House and then a headliner at Tiger Works where we rocked out a full hour long set. Thanks to the fellas at the Attic studios for arranging a top gig.

Tramlines Festival 2014

25th - 27th July 2014

Red Hot at the Red House

18th July 2014

After a baking summers day it was scorchio down at the Red House. Our 1st gig here, such a cool little venue. Sid Shevlin opened with a solo acoustic spot playing songs packed with equal measures of angst and humour. Next up was Road Crew; an eclectic mix of folk, hill billy rock, metal and violins! Check these guys out. Then Fear Lies let rip with a full hour long set of everything! Yep all our stuff and then some. The volume was cranked up to eleven. Tramlines festival here we come!

Beer, bikes, burgers an Rock

12th July 2014

It’s a Saturday night what are you going to do? Get on yer bike drink some beer and rock out with the Fear Lies boys! It was a full on weekend camping bikers festival. We took to the stage at the Mexborough Minders Welfare club, sank a few ales and breathed in the exhaust fumes!

Triple Gig Finale

23rd June 2014

To round off our 3 gig weekend tour of South Yorkshire we performed at Harrisons and had the privilege of being amongst a bill fancier than a pellicans. The line up was one of the best I’ve ever seen on the local circuit. Santiago Kings are just pure entertainment, Firegarden performed their retro prog rock with style and Regulus rocked the place out with some serious fat stoner riffs. Sandwiched in the middle was some thunderous anthemic rock from ourselves. It was all a bit too much excitement for a Monday evening!

Barnsley Fest!

21st June 2014

The festival season is upon us! No rest for the Fear Lies boys, fresh after the Corporation headliner the previous night we jetted all the way to Barnsley for the annual Barnsley Festival. There was a feast of music going off all over town. We had the privilege of performing at The Underground. Clearly they love their live music in Barnsley, the locals came out in force and made us feel very welcome. Festie season is on!

What a Gig What a Night! @ Corporation

20th June 2014

This was Fear Lies biggest gig to date; 1st headliner, 1st ticketed event and 1st time at Sheffields prestigious Corporation. For this special occasion we honoured the 20th anniversary of two classic albums, Troublegum and Definitely Maybe, by performing Screamager by Therapy and a rocked up version of Oasis’s Bring it on Down. Thanks to the many who came, it was a great atmosphere. Watching the packed crowd belt out the “eat, sleep, rock, repeat” chant was some sight!

New Video due for Release 23rd April

April 2014

We are pleased to announce that our recent Steel City Sessions live video recording has been mixed and is almost ready for release! Stop Drop Robot did a great job with the mixing and editing of the final cut (despite our gruff exterior he’s managed to make us look slightly respectable!). Sign up to our event page on facebook to watch on the 23rd or check it out right here on this site after release.

The Boys Rock London

Friday 18th April 2014

What a fantastic night. Jim flew in after a tour of Ireland to team up with former band UR Seoul and the rest of the lads made the drive up from Sheffield for this event at the White Lion pub in Streatham. This charity run pub does a lot of great work helping disadvantaged kids get access to music and we were more than happy to help promote their cause. There was a great crowd in and our London debut was a very enjoyable affair. Then afterwards UR Seoul rocked the bar with some classic oldies backed up with our very own Jim Hockney on the drums.

Steel City Sessions Recording in the Can!

Sunday 13th April 2014

As part of our album pre-production we recently hooked up with Stop Drop Robot for a quick live recording at the Attic studios in Kelham Island. The lads blasted out three tracks faster than you could say “to the pub!” The tracks are Army of You, Holding Nothing and Dial the Storm. Release date for these videos to follow shortly.

A Cracking 4th City Promotions Night

Sunday 6th April 2014

What a great night of music at West Street Live. After Huddersfields Heebie-Geebies opened up with some lively funk, The People belted out their Muse-esque rock then it was time for Fear Lies. The sound guys had done a great job that night. The drums and bass were booming just the way we like it. Was it West Street Live or Sheffield Arena?? Local lads Luna Kicks rounded off the evening with a top energetic performance. Another great 4th City Promotions night!

Fear Lies Sailing the South Seas!

Saturday 29th March 2014

Fast becoming one our favourite venues in Sheffield South Seas hosted a top night of music. In front of a lively crowd we got to break in our new song Dead End (that doomy breakdown had the dance floor shaking!). Jayd Woodpecker opened the night with his unique acoustic style and had the audience in the palm of his hand. Hats off to Sky Valley Mistress who also played a blinder and Cardiff’s own Akbal who finished off the evening with a prog-metal journey from darkness and into the light! It was spiritual.

West Street Live's 5th Birthday Bash

Saturday 2nd March 2014

It was a feast of music. WSL’s 5th Anniversary event had as an eclectic mix of music and you're likely to come across. From folk, pop, funk, indie, rap and of course a bit of hard anthemic rock from yours truly. It was also a feast of food and booze as WSL very kindly laid on a spread and free bubbly for all comers. With a tanked up audience and the Fear Lies boys loaded up on pork pies, a great night ensued.

Fear Lies Debut at South Seas

Saturday 15th February 2014

We had the pleaser of playing at the South Seas in Broomhill for the first time. This was only our 3rd gig and the new songs Army of You, Banshee and Ghost are really coming together live. Thanks to Dave for making us feel so welcome and for giving us a great sound! Cybernator from Goole also played with an impressive set of electro-pop.

Fear Lies rock West Street Live

Tuesday 14th January 2014

We are back!!!!!!! On a cold tuesday night the guys played a storming short set at West Street live.  The guys unleashed all 4 of their new songs along with a couple of old ones too. It was a great return to form for the guys having dropped off the grid late last year whilst Jim joined and new material was being written. Jims presence was immediately felt on the set opener Army of You, the first of the new tracks. A very laid back Fear Lies now look settled and ready for the year ahead with high profile support gigs at the O2 academy and Corporation rumoured.
